The Studio
Our studio, situated in the picturesque seaside suburb of Largs Bay, features an Equipment Room furnished with our beautifully handcrafted Australian-made Pilates equipment. Our Mat Room is thoughtfully arranged so clients can attend classes without needing to bring any equipment—mats are provided, along with a variety of small tools to ensure every mat class remains engaging and varied. The studio is air-conditioned for your comfort, and each class incorporates Kindred Self essential oils, music, and mindfulness techniques. We kindly ask that you bring your own socks to wear during class.
Chantell Murphy - Owner
Chantell’s passion for Pilates began through her own experience of its benefits, having dealt with years of chronic back pain following an injury sustained while nursing. After trying numerous treatments, she started practising Pilates and has not experienced any episodes of back pain since—now over 15 years ago.
Her enthusiasm for Pilates quickly grew, leading her to complete teacher training at Queen Street Pilates Studio under Leanne Mollison. In 2009, she earned the nationally recognised Diploma of Pilates Therapy and Instruction. Since then, Chantell has worked with a diverse range of clients, including the vision impaired and elite athletes, notably collaborating with the Port Power players.
Chantell values close partnerships with physiotherapists, which have deepened her understanding of various injuries and rehabilitation methods. Committed to her professional growth, she regularly attends further education sessions and is an active member of the APMA.
Outside of her professional life, Chantell is a Cancerian with three children and a friendly dog named Joni, who often accompanies her to the studio. Chantell is presently pursuing studies in Remedial Massage and is eager to broaden the range of services she provides.
Joni
Joni is Chantell’s dog who comes to Pilates and sits (mostly) in her bed by the front door. Joni is still learning as she is a youngster, but she’s starting to be a little more chilled than when she first started!
Joni loves pats, is wary of the postie, loves pig ears and is a Virgo.
Stephanie Cibich
With a background in the arts and a degree in Nutrition, Steph chose to follow her passion for health and wellbeing after personally experiencing the physical and spiritual benefits of Pilates. Since completing her Mat and Equipment instructor training at Queen St Pilates Studio, she has had the privilege of working with clients of varying ages and backgrounds. Steph continues to enjoy witnessing the many ways Pilates can enhance quality of life.
Committed to providing effective and enjoyable classes, she challenges her clients with controlled movements and correct alignment to improve body awareness, posture, flexibility, and overall strength.
Steph is a Sagittarius, wife and mother, and was born and raised in the western suburbs of Adelaide.
Shannon Jamieson
Shannon’s journey to Pilates began after a knee injury sustained during netball, which led her to try her first Pilates class—and she fell in love immediately. She appreciates the inclusiveness of Pilates, believing that anyone, regardless of level or goal, can benefit from the practice.
Shannon completed her teacher training through Leanne Mollison at Tensegrity Training, earning her qualification in 2021. “It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” she says.
Her classes strike a balance between relaxed and challenging, always accompanied by her trademark laugh. Shannon remains curious about the many ways we can move our bodies and brings this enthusiasm to every session.
Oh, and by the way - Shannon is a Scorpio!
In Loving Memory of daisi
Daisi was more than just a beloved dog, she was a cherished part of the Studio’s soul. A gentle Capricorn with a wise and playful spirit, she loved nothing more than being by Chantelle’s side, a good frolic down the beach, followed by curling up on her special spot by the door to warmly greet everyone who came to the studio.
Daisi brought joy, calm, and connection to all who visited, offering her quiet presence and soaking up every bit of love and attention that came her way. A truly loyal companion to Chantelle and a friend to many, her big beautiful toothy smile touched countless hearts.
We sadly said a heartfelt goodbye to Daisi on 7th August 2024, but her spirit still lingers softly through the space. Forever part of the Studio’s story, forever part of the Studio’s soul.
